Marbled papers are found inside the covers of old books but their presence is never catalogued. They are the astonishing inner skins of the archive, an unsung record of beating hearts of the past.

These paintings are all on paper hand-marbled by Iris Nevins in the US, or bought from the estate of Ann Muir. Extending the work of these craftswomen into new paintings is my way of reaching out to a wider history of women working to decorate the world.
